6 Tips for Promoting Your Small Business

Updated: Dec 4, 2020

In celebration of Small Business Saturday taking place in the UK this weekend, we put this useful list together to help you!

Business Cards are out - but pens are in! - Something useful that you can both use and giveaway! Our recommendation: Pens with multifunctions, like with a stylus that can also be used on tablets and phones are incredibly useful. Here is our suggestion for pens that are super cost-effective (you won’t mind giving them away to spread your brand message) and can be decorated in a multitude of ways to catch the eye and spread your message!

Tip 2- Create conversation starters and memorable moments with potential and existing clients

You can do this by wearing your brand, perhaps even having a strapline that creates a conversation and awareness about what you do in a fun way. The message can be something people will resonate with and encourage brand recall and recognition. Think about having about having a special offer printed onto a promotional product or giveaway.

Tip 3 - Use all the available space

Have you thought about dressing your phone? We are all on our phones more often than we would like - but you can promote your business at the same time! Covers or gadgets are available to fit to your phone so that your brand can be seen. You can make it funky or desirable in some way and then give them away to others.

Tip 4 -Display your brand at every opportunity

Sign written vehicles are a great idea, putting some thought into this is an easy way to reach potential customers! To extend this even further, think about investing in some attractive bumper or window stickers. You can use and give away to your customers, an easy and cost-effective way to promote your business and brand.

Tip 5 - Get involved with local events like Small Business Saturday

Like small business Saturday for example - aimed at cross-promoting and encouraging people to shop local and support businesses like ours! You can also collaborate with other businesses and contacts to help others get their messages and offer out. #smallbizsatuk

I have over 20 years of experience working in this business and I’m always happy to chat and bounce ideas around.

More about Small Business Saturday:

Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.

The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.

On Small Business Saturday, customers across the U.K. go out and support all types of small businesses, online, in offices, and in stores. Many small businesses take part in the day by hosting events and offering discounts. #smallbizsatuk

Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead!
